Making space to play with clay via Kamloops This Week

When artist Vaughn Warren set to work expanding Kamloops Makerspace’s artistic offerings last year, calls for a pottery studio came early and often. This week, that request became a reality with the opening of the Clayspace on the third floor of Makerspace’s studio house at 207 West Victoria St.

Led by potter Amanda Eccleston of Clay Chimera and other local ceramic artists, the new studio will serve as a teaching space, as well as a place for emerging and established artists to experiment with clay. While she has a home studio, Eccleston said Makerspace will fill the need for larger spaces to accommodate workshops, something she has struggled to find in Kamloops.
