Mountain View’s new makerspace unleashes creativity

Dozens of projects crafted by small hands crammed a row of tables and spilled onto a wall inside a room at Mountain View Elementary School.
There were animal masks made from paper plates; cardboard instruments, cars and trucks; and tin-foil-lined boxes with dioramic scenes inside.

Since January, students at the K-6 campus have spent roughly 45 minutes a week building whatever comes into their imaginations with materials and spare parts they find in the school’s new makerspace, said librarian Robin Glugatch, who launched the project.

“Their only limitations are their own imaginations,” she said.
